Joint Message to the Health Community on New Safety Requirements

Dear Faculty, Staff, and Students,

Our main priority during this pandemic has always been to keep our campus and communities as safe as possible. The recent Delta variant has proven to be highly transmissible. It is the most dominant variant in the United States, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has called for increased safety measures. 

As health leaders at Michigan State University, we are in full support of the decision to require COVID-19 vaccinations for students, faculty and staff. We also fully support the university in resuming the use of masks while indoors in MSU facilities and sites across the state, regardless of vaccination status.  

For those who have not yet received a COVID-19 vaccination, it’s time to do so. You can receive one through the MSU Health Care Pharmacy. 

We expect you will have many questions and will work to update you with more information as it becomes available. We encourage you to attend our next OHS Town Hall on Tuesday, Aug. 3 at 1 p.m., where we will share the latest updates and provide a forum for you to ask additional questions. 

You have been heroic in your response throughout the pandemic. We understand these latest developments are yet another test of your resilience in the face of change and uncertainty.
